Cepher Blog

Welcome to the Journey

Can You See!

Hopefully, you have noticed that you are of a very small group here at Cepher, and as I sit here tonight listening to one of my favorite song of all time I am reminded of how important being a member of a small group has always been in my life as well as throughout history. I will assure you that the most important group in the history of this earth began with the Words of one Man as He spoke them to two brothers. These words He spoke had nothing to do with their acceptance of Him, it was something far deeper inside of them that they were listening too. Just as we listen to that same almost silent voice that NEVER lets us go or down.

There will not be a great movement in my life time, it will come in most of yours though. All of you under Thirty-ish will, if you stay the course, see the movement of a life time; one that will bring down the walls of class separation, bigotry, hatred, and most of all division. It will be a movement that will shake the pillars of Heaven and Earth with the quiet power of Agape Love. That is all we are missing at this time, and it cannot come just because you want it to, it can only manifest when all who have been seen breathing have arrived, so be patient. It will come, and you will see it!

Patience is the key, but patience is impossible without Faith. The Tower of Babel shows us that motivation, commitment, and unity fall short of the mark without the manifestation of Agape Love. King Y’shua Messiah certainly had it while on earth, Peter, John and others had it, but not when King Y’shua Messiah walked with them. It comes via the Blessed Holy Spirit at times of great need. Have Faith to know, have Faith to know that our Creator has a Plan. We are in it. It will be played out to the fullest, and all we have to do is wait in Faith.

Hebrews 11:6

“And without Faith it is impossible to please Elohim, for those who come to Elohim must believe that He is…” NASB

It does not get any clearer than that, and if Faith is the main factor in our relationship with our Creator then there is no way to force our beliefs onto anyone else. So why do we seem to try so hard to do just that? It has nothing to do with our belief, nothing to do with the evangelistic call off King Y’shua Messiah, but it has everything to do with our pride and our security. We try to make others see our way just to make us feel better about our own beliefs and about ourselves. It must stop if believers are ever going to fulfill the call of our Lord to share the Word with others.

All human being learn from experience more than anything else, therefore, we must show others the Word of our Lord through our actions not by our words. I was Stumbling in the Net a few days ago and stumbled across THIS which shows a great example of what I am trying to share in this post. So I placed the link in this post in hopes that you would read it even if you do not finish this one. If you are still with me, let’s talk about Faith!

Hebrews 11:1

“Now Faith is the assurance of hope, the conviction of things not seen.” NASB

There is no better definition of our belief in our Creator than this one above, and for that reason we should look carefully at this verse describing Faith in hopes that with a better understanding comes a better appreciation and usage. To be assured of hope is to be completely convinced, and conviction of an unseen object or event is exactly how scientist see their theories. Faith is Faith no matter what the belief is in. However, the question is what to believe in? I have spent a life time learning, studying, and absorbing knowledge that at times tends to bring doubt into the validity of the present Bible we read. There are only two ways to truly look at Bible validity: one way is to trust exactly what you read, or slightly adjust what you read to fit the Truth inside your heart. The first way is to be ignorant and led blindly down a road that you can pretend is Faith, or the second way can be done though vigilant study WITH the Blessed Holy Spirit–that tiny little voice inside your heart.

Let me give you an example:

Some of the finest Theology Scholars in the world understand that if you read the oldest manuscripts from the fourth century you will not read one of the most important stories in the Bible today! The “Throw the first stone” story in the Book of Saint John. Of course most of these fine scholars do not believe that King Y’shua Messiah confronted the mob about to stone a woman for adultery. They think that it was added later to the Bible. I believe that one day they will find in the millions of documents from the cave of Qumran that exact story which was indiscreetly removed so the Kings and Popes of the fourth century could call upon their followers to kill in the name of God!

Why do I believe this way?

Simple; I have come to know our Creator in such a way that I am convinced that King Y’shua Messiah would react exactly like it states in John 8:1-11. I believe this because there is no ambiguity in the Gospels where King Y’shua Messiah plainly states His feelings on forgiveness Luke 23:34. The Bible today is full of God’s forgiveness and as it was when it was first written.

Study and then believe! If you apply the Word of God as an entire single Word; to apply the Spirit of the Bible whole into your life and not pick and choose specific verses to live by you will not have to concern yourself with the possibility of a single verse being wrong. The Bible in its entirety has a general theme to live by and that is what you sink your beliefs into.

Have you ever spent time by yourself, whether at home in your room, or deep in the wilderness, or at night under a moonless sky in the desert far from any obscuring city lights? If you have I am certain that you have had an opportunity to talk with God. However, whether or not you took the opportunity to talk with your Creator will depend on one thing and one thing only–if you have been chosen or not.

We all seem to think that babies are the result of sex between a man and a woman, we think that death is completely biological, that we are in control of our own destiny, and that we decide if we will believe in God or not. All wrong! Life and death as with everything else is indirectly controlled by the Creator of all things; indirectly, because of the way God Created everything.

The second most important element of God for us to be aware of is that He has foreseen all things. Ergo, if God has set up the earth to react to the actions of humankind, and God has already seen these actions and reactions he has an indirect control on it all. Are we locked into actions that God has already seen us take? Of course! However, since we cannot see the future we cannot be locked into anything in our minds.

Without going deeply philosophical the point is that God knows who will and who will not come to Him before any of us have even been born. Which means that those whom He knows will come to Him have already been written in the Book of Life; and only those written in the Book of Life can come to God.

So the next time you find yourself alone try talking with God, because whether or not He speaks to you, the simple fact that you attempted to talk with God can prove to you that you believe. It is that belief that shows who is written in the Book of Life, for no one can come to God without that belief. Therefore, if you attempt to talk with God you are written forever in the Book of Life.

Try it!

Prophets ?

I wanted to be on the record prior to 21, May 2011 in order to be able to say from the beginning that here at Cepher we do not believe that the Blessed Holy Spirit will ever inform someone years or seconds in advance of the end of the entire world. I do not believe in the Rapture, and I think that it is a travesty that anyone would believe someone prophesying the end of the world, and yet, there are thousands or more that have stopped their entire lives, closed their bank accounts, quit working and sold their homes because someone told them that the end is coming on a specific date. This person that has predicted the End of Days first predicted it in 1994, and at that time said that if his calculations were incorrect and the earth is still here after 21, May 1994, the next date would absolutely be the correct date, which of course is tomorrow.

As I previously mentioned, the fact that so many Christians have taken this tripe hook, line and sinker, should reveal to the world just how far from the Cross Christianity has fallen. Thank the Lord for the remnant that will always be ready, waiting patiently while continuing to sharing the Gospel by simply living it.

No one is guaranteed tomorrow, that is why it is crucial to live today for King Y’shua Messiah.

Fire Test

1Corinthians 3:12-13

“Now if any man builds upon the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood hay straw, each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it, because it is revealed with fire; and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.”  NASB

Wow! I do not know about you, but I can say with absolute conviction that I clearly understand what the Blessed Holy Spirit was communicating in these verses through Saint Paul because I have confirmation from the Word of King Y’shua Messiah as quoted in the Gospel of Saint Luke chapter six, verse forty-eight, where King Y’shua Messiah tells all His followers that unless your foundation is laid upon the Rock, your house will not survive the flood. Therefore, no matter how much wealth we have, or how smart we are, or how much work we do; unless our foundation is secured on the Rock, we will collapse.

Even though your foundation gives way God will be there to help you get out of the hole that is left of your life and will be with you assisting as you put your life on the Rock. No matter how long it takes or how many times you fail to secure your foundation to the Rock God will always be waiting for you with open arms willing to assist. In fact, just two verses beyond the thirteenth, one can read even though your house will burn down, you will be saved. However, though you are saved you will be scarred, according to the verse. And it is that “scaring” that is the true consequence of actions or omissions that are outside the realm of God’s ideal place for each of us.

It has been discovered that human beings are naturally inclined to believe in the importance of punishment, as if at birth we are ready to accept that there will be consequences from decisions we make. It is that acceptance that allows us to be mislead into thinking that God is waiting for us to foul-up so He can bring down an ax upon our necks. However, the reality of God’s punishment is that He has designed our conscience in such a way that the act or omission is sufficient to engulf our mind with guilt which we spend enormous amounts of time and energy trying to dismiss. In other words, we tend to punish ourselves; although there are times when we really cross a line that by design can put quite a scar on our life that tends to act like baggage we carry for maybe a life time.

In the end what matters far more than luck, prosperity, physical prowess, nationality, or intellect, is how deep inside you does your Faith come from. If it is superficial it will not last, but if it comes from somewhere so deep, deep inside that nothing is more important and nothing could ever sever it from you, then it is the kind of Faith that has moved mountains, raised the dead, loved enemies, and it will live forever.

“And what that ultimately means, of course, is that you don’t ever have to do anything sensational for people to love you. When I say it’s you I like, I’m talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed. So in all that you do, in all of your life, I wish you the strength and the grace to make those choices which will allow you and your neighbor to become the best of whoever you are.” -Fred McFeely Rogers at the 2002 Dartmouth commencement

Females Wanted

“How long will you go here and there, O faithless daughter? For the Lord has created a new thing in the earth–A woman will encompass a man.” – NASB

Consider if you would, how many of  the earth’s creatures live in large groups where the female is either in charge or vital for every day survival. Ants, bees, elephants, and lions, just to name a few, all show us not just the importance of the female, but their absolute necessity. In most cases science has seen where the female of the species can change into a male far more often than the reverse. What I find so intriguing is how the female of most species is capable of existing with other females and males of their species; when more often than not, the male can only exist with females, young males, or occasionally with a “male buddy”.

This is where nature, once again, clearly shows us how our world works best. What makes me believe that women would make better leaders than men is firstly the degrading position that man has placed women in for the past several millennia showing numerous faults of the male,  and secondly is the woman’s capacity to care. There is a definite reason why males are incapable of maintaining long-term group existence with other males–pride. Selfish pride keeps most males from reaching their maximum capabilities, which then negatively affects everyone in one way or another.

King Y’shua Messiah is my text-book example of the perfect human being. He is our example to model our lives by, which if we follow Him step by step would lead us directly to perfection. His biggest characteristic was His Agape Love which allowed Him to obey God and die a horrible torturous death for those who crucified Him. And that is exactly what King Y’shua Messiah expects from each of us. If men today are not capable of that type of Faith, then women must step up because they are capable of such a Faith–they display it every time they carry and bring life into this world.

An Act Of God

The only true and certainly most important “Act of God” in the past several thousand years was His total surrender to and for us on the cross. That surrender was suppose to be an example for us to follow, and by following that example we are to completely surrender our existence in this universe over to God. However, so many of us are terrified of the word “surrender” because it is always in the context of loss. One surrenders when one looses, and there is nothing humanly delectable about loosing. Therefore, most people look at surrendering as a loosing proposition; and in worldly terms that is correct, but in Spiritual terms one is surrendering over to God everything in one’s life that is undesirable. Of course, everything about a human being without God is undesirable, yet, when one surrenders their entire life over to God, God instantly sets you free without all the baggage that once held you down.

Once a soul has surrendered to God that soul immediately begins to see life from a completely different perspective, and it is that change in perception that accounts for an entirely new lifestyle! For the Love of God alone the surrender is worth it, and yet there are so many other benefits that accompany that Love that quickly after your surrender you discover that surrendering to the King of Kings you actually become the victor.

Let us now look at some of those other benefits that ones receives along with the Love of God:

  • First is Patience, and it is listed on top because of its importance in our lives. It is Patience that enables us to wait for it. The longer one waits for something, the more valuable one considers that something, and that is specifically by design. The longer you wait for something, the more value it will have and once you possess it you will certainly hold it higher regard than if you did not wait at all.
  • The second benefit given to one who has surrendered all and received the Love of God is the ability to resist jealousy. Today, we do not appreciate the importance of these first two attributes, and as a society we are paying for it gravely. Can you imagine the power and peace one has when ones self confidence is so solid one never becomes envious? That type of confidence comes only when one feels the Love of God.
  • With that confidence comes another benefit that of humility. When ones knows that the Creator of everything is willing to, and already has died for you, it doesn’t get any more humbling. And it is that humility that puts the confidence in its place, at the foot of God.
  • When you have become humbly confident in the God whose Spirit now lives inside of you it becomes more and more difficult to act improper, selfish or vengeful. As one lives life with less and less anger, selfishness, and jealousy, one begins to feel set free. And as you become freer and freer you realize exactly how the Truth can sett you free.

For many in America, President Obama was the answer to their prayers, and yet for many other Americans he was the “anti-christ”. Now for most, he has become just another politician who works for those whom the majority of Americans will never meet, nor ever really emulate, though most Americans fantasize about some day becoming the next “Bill Gates”. All that time wasted on futile attempts to become filthy rich, while one could have been helping those less fortunate to become a little more fortunate. All the effort and imagination wasted on selfish get rich schemes could instead be put to use helping bring up the lower classes thereby enriching the middle-class. Together we stand and divided we fall; it is as simple as that.

“Instead the president conveyed the insular optimism of his fat-cat associates: “We are poised for progress. Two years after the worst recession most of us have ever known, the stock market has come roaring back. Corporate profits are up. The economy is growing again.” How convenient to ignore the fact that this bubble of prosperity, which has failed the tens of millions losing their homes and jobs, was floated by enormous government indebtedness now forcing deep cuts in social services including state financial aid for those better-educated students the president claims to be so concerned about.” – Robert Scheer editor for Truthdig.com

For many today the “End” has already come; the end of having a roof over ones head, the end of going to work, the end of eating at least once each day, the end of life as most of us know it. What is even worse, is this insane belief that we have no control over our own destiny. For those who believe in God they should know that God gave us our free-will in order to apply it as we see fit. Just because the Lord knows what choices we make before we make them does not mean that He controls our choices. Why else would God not tell all of His followers when the last day would be? Had God wanted us to dwell on the “End-Times” He would have given us a clear date. The fact that He did not do this indicates that His desire is for His followers to live each day to its fullest until there are no days left.

As it appears today, a large portion of the American society has determined that the world will not see the year 2013. If enough people believe that to be true, they just might hasten their own demise; for them the world will end in 2012, one way or another. Hopefully, there are enough intelligent people within America today that have already realized how dire our situation is at present and have begun the process of living a more appropriate life. A life that conserves more and consumes less, a life that considers the other person at all times knowing that whether its your neighbor across the street or a complete stranger across the ocean we are all intricately connected.

All who call themselves Christians should be ashamed at yourselves for the simple reason that King Y’shua Messiah was explicitly clear on how His followers were to live. Instead of trying to convince each other of how rich King Y’shua Messiah was while He walked this planet, we should all be studying and applying His words and actions into our own lives beginning with the Beatitudes. If we were doing this today the world would be a very different place.

Son of Man

ISAIAH 57:14-21

“And it will be said, Build up, build up, prepare the way, Remove obstacles out of the way of My people. For thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, I dwell on a high and holy place, and with the contrite and lowly of spirit in order to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite. For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry; For the spirit would grow faint before Me, and the breath I have made. Because of the iniquity of his unjust gain I was angry and struck him; I hid and was angry, and he went on turning away, in the way of his heart. I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and to his mourners, creating the praise of the lips. Peace, peace to him who is far and to him who is near, Says the Lord and I will heal him. But the wicked are like the tossing sea, for it cannot be quiet, and its waters toss up refuse and mud. There is no peace, says my God, for the wicked.”  NASB

Make no mistake, the Lord will always take care of His own, and justice will be the final outcome. However, God’s justice may not be exactly what we might think of as justice. Consider for a moment the story of Cain and Abel; here we have two brothers, the first two siblings on earth and therefore everything they do will be novel including murder.

With the murder of Abel, Cain tells God that he cannot live with the crime he has committed (Genesis 4:13). The Hebrew word that we translate as “punishment” actually means “iniquity”, therefore Cain is not telling God that he cannot take the punishment, but that he cannot take the magnitude of the crime he had just committed. Before Cain killed Abel there was no concept for murder, which should lead the reader to realize that Cain had no idea that his actions from anger would result in the death of his brother.

The story of Cain and Abel is based around emotions and thoughts, because God knows that everything a human being does originates from within–from our emotions, and it is the reasons why we do what we do that hold the most importance. Intent is crucial in a life of Faith.

The sentence,”There is no peace for the wicked.” (Isaiah 57:21) is not as simple to interpret as it may seem. Because the most common understanding is the wicked will be punished by God, but its more probable meaning is, “The wicked cannot stop being wicked.” Once again to find the true interpretation one need only to look at life. There we can plainly see that the wicked cannot stop being wicked, just as Satan could not stop being drawn to the magnetic pull in the fascination of earth. All these things and much more are clear if the eyes you look through are clear.

I refer all of you to an ancient little story of the “Scorpion and the Toad.” The story tries to show the pervasiveness of the human nature and how destructive it has been and continues be. There are other interpretations, but since no one knows who wrote the story, where it came from, or when it was made ,though it is centuries old, I feel that the best interpretation is in regards to the destructive character of human nature. Of course, not all humans are destructive, nor is human nature limited to destruction, however its propensity is certainly toward destruction in the majority.

There is a very good reason why King Y’shua Messiah tells all who wish to follow Him that they must be “born again” (John 3:3). Every human being is decadent to one degree or another, without a substantial reason for morality. The most relevant motivation for morality is a belief in an afterlife. That is why the Bible speaks of the need for any human being seeking a higher moral standard must first and foremost, die of ones self. It is the same human nature that was mislead in the Garden eons ago, that must die before any moral change can occur.

Sadness with a Silver Lining

We live in a country that whether it is from the lack of centuries or just luck we have less melancholy memories than most other countries i.e., Europe. I often wonder if the absence of great sadness among the throngs within this country is not caused by the blessings of God. At any rate whether it be by blessings, or by the simple lack of time, or by the fickle hand of fate, it would appear to most today that sadness of great magnitude is just beyond the horizon. A sadness that will go far beyond that of what was felt in the second decade and again in the  fifth decade of the last century by most Europeans and by all those who lost loved ones in the two World Wars (+70 million people died). Both wars were said to be the last due to the viciousness and massive loss of life that was forced on all who were alive during either or both of those nightmarish events.

What I have found to be most curious is how intense sadness affects people in such different ways. Some, who find themselves near deaths door tend to discover God, and others who may have had a lengthy relationship with God decide that the amount of sadness was sufficient to dissolve any possibility of existence of a personal God. Though my curiosity is peaked at the question of why the same trauma would affect people so completely differently, my understanding of why some believe in God and some do not has always been established by the Bible’s explanations that only those written in the Book of Life will believe. Consequently, it would appear that there is a strong spiritual factor determining the affect of profound sadness on human beings.

70% of Americans polled believe in the existence of Angels, and at least three-quarters of the American public believe in the existence of the supernatural, and yet few have sought the complete presence of God. How could that be? Maybe our human nature refuses to relinquish control. However, no one is truly in complete control of their life, although the idea of voluntarily submitting ones self completely over to a God that one is not convinced of is like playing Russian Roulette. There in lies the problem.

Thus enters the magic of sadness. Because of the paradox in the need to believe in God one must first believe in God’s existence–a step of pure faith–which is an action that most human beings are at the least reluctant, and more likely, incapable of such a step. Thus the necessity for God to allow Satan to cause sadness in such a way that enables those humans affected to take the most important step of their lives toward building a true, unbridled relationship with the Creator of all things.

In any case, it would appear that whether or not sadness has a positive side, America seems to be in the initial throes of what looks like a swathe of sadness developing into a thick, heavy and dirty blanket of despair eventually enveloping even the elite. It is at that point when we shall see how many of the 70% that believe in Angels finally surrender their entire consciousness over to God.

Thus a rather long-winded, haphazardly way of an attempt to ensure all who read it that, though the light at the end of the tunnel may frequently turn out to be just another high-speed train, there really are silver linings in the most vicious of dark rain clouds. However, the only way to benefit from that metallic rainbow is to survive the flood.
